# Vocdoni and Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) partner to advance anticoercion, transparent, and anonymous digital voting

Vocdoni and [Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya](https://www.upc.edu/en?set_language=en) (UPC) have joined forces to advance secure, anti-coercion, transparent, anonymous, and verifiable digital voting. This partnership leverages decentralized technologies and zero-knowledge cryptographic advancements to redefine trust in digital elections.

Vocdoni is an **open-source project that enables any organization worldwide, regardless of size, to afford secure, tamper-proof, anonymous, verifiable, and censorship-resistant voting technology**. This technology has been **used by hundreds of institutions**, including [city councils](/blog/referendum-bellpuig), [football clubs](https://coinjournal.net/news/vocdoni-hosts-football-club-barcelona-supporters-club-advisory-council-elections/), [political parties](https://x.com/vocdoni/status/1868017937212162093), cooperatives, and organizations in high-risk environments, like the [Belarusian opposition’s Coordination Council elections](/blog/new-belarus-vocdoni).

For years, the [UPC **Computer Architecture Department**](https://www.ac.upc.edu/en?set_language=en) **has contributed to the Vocdoni network by maintaining a node of the Vocdoni voting protocol**, reinforcing the network’s decentralization and reputation. Now, we are formalizing this partnership, marking the next step in our relationship. This formalization allows us to **streamline our collaboration** and accelerate joint initiatives, **such as the validation of** [**DAVINCI**](https://whitepaper.vocdoni.io/)**, the new voting protocol we’re building**.

“_We believe technology should serve humanity, and decentralized systems with cutting-edge cryptography should solve real-world problems,_” said Roger Baig, PhD, professor of Decentralized Systems at UPC. “_Supporting open-source projects like Vocdoni aligns with universities’ role in advancing technology for the public good_”.

This partnership marks a significant step in trustworthy digital voting. It bridges academia and open-source innovation to ensure secure and accessible democratic processes worldwide.
